Bubba didn't eat for the entire 4 days he was here and only went potty once. He wouldn't let anyone near him. If we tried he would his and tail whip and lunge with his mouth open. I finally located a place for him at a rescue/rehab facility about 2 hrs. away from us. I knew that there he would get the care he needed. My cage was small for him. (Did I mention he was 5 feet long!) and if he was sick he would also get medication and she had help to force feed him if need be.
I got an email from the lady who took him to the rescue/rehab center, as to what the lady had to say when he was brought in. Firstly, I was worried about his color, he was greyish. Turns out he is supposed to be, he is a Peruvian iguana. Secondly, he had all his claws but there was a growth over them so she cleaned all that off and clipped them. She said she's seen much worse ones come in and that she is sure he will do just fine. YIPPIEEEE!! I am awaiting further news about bubba but am glad he is getting the care he needs.
Some of you might be asking, why take him in the first place if I couldn't care for him here. I didn't know anything about his nature or his health. All I knew was I was told he would be put down if I didn't, so what else could I do?
1/4/04...I received an email stating that Bubba was eating well and was very healthy. He was found a perminant home on New Years Eve. Thanks goodness! I was sure worried about him.
